The Angry Dutchman and The Captain went west and ended up in Breckenridge, CO for a fast and furious 6 days of single track ripping and roaring. We survived at altitude and kept a smile the entire time. Amazing trails greeted us everyday in the forms of the Colorado Trail and Gold Dust Trail to name a few . The altitude hit us with a punch of BAM!!! We pushed through it and by the end of the race we were starting to acclimate I figure. The lowest elevation during the week was 9000 where we were lodging and we got up to 12,500 ft on Wheeler Pass. We ended up 3rd in the GC for the Men’s Duo Masters Field. We got 3rd place on stages 1,2,4,5 and 6. I was very pleased with our performance and this was our first time racing together. I recommend doing the Breck Epic if you are fit, wanting a for real challenge and acclimated to the altitude. The trails, scenery, climate, racers and race management make it worth your while, believe that!
